Vickie Howell Embroidering on Your Knitwear
Vickie Howell is an award-winning, Austin, Texas–based broadcaster, author, knit & crochet designer, and entrepreneur. Her career began as the host of the wildly popular DIY Network show Knitty Gritty.
Over the two decades since the show’s inception—through various other television programs, YouTube videos, online courses, conference tours, books, a subscription box business, and the supportive, mental health-focused oasis Stitchwell Social Club—she ‘s had the privilege of teaching hundreds of thousands of stitchers new yarn-y skills.
Vickie’s mission is to empower people through community building and encourage them to lean into creativity by making DIY totally doable.

Embroider Knit!: Goth Gardens with Vickie Howell
In this class, we’ll bring the moody meadow to our knits by embellishing them with brooding blossom embroidery.
Inspired by Victorian Goth and Floral Halloween trends, and using a few tutorials from Vickie’s booklet, Embroider Knit!, we’ll learn how to stitch a few different flowers for the ultimate Fall feel!

Knit a sock/fingering-weight black, white, or deep jewel tone Stockinette Stitch swatch, measuring at least 4″/10 cm.
Recommended Supplies:

Scraps of several colors of sock yarn or embroidery floss
• Embroidery needle
• Snips
• Optional: white pencil or disappearing ink pen
