Morning Session 11AM to 1PM:

Embroidery on Knitted Fabric

Embroidery on Knitted Fabric: Add texture and dimension to your projects with embroidery on top of your knitting. We will cover duplicate stitch, which covers knitted stitches to create a faux colorwork effect, as well as some basic embroidery stitches such as chain stitch, stem stitch, daisy stitch, and woven roses.

Materials:

• Blocked 4-6” swatch in stockinette stitch

• Small amounts of yarns in a similar weight as the swatch

• Darning needle

• Scissors

Afternoon Session 2 PM-4 PM

Altering Knit and Crochet Patterns for Size, Gauge, or Style

It can be hard to find just the right knitting or crochet pattern to fit your yarn, body, and fashion sense. We will go through common alterations including working in the round, changing stitch gauge and row gauge, adding or altering waist shaping, calculating rates of shaping for curves and slanted edges to adjust armholes and necklines, and changing the size of a pattern both in an easy way with limited usage, and more thoroughly. This class will be useful for anyone who knits or crochets garments or accessories, including those using handspun yarn.
