Denise DeSantis is a teacher, designer, author and has been knitting for
over 25 years but it wasn’t until she started teaching sock knitting that she
realized something was wrong. Sock knitting was considered hard, scary
and not for beginner knitters. A yarn shop owner even told her once, why
knit socks when you can buy them. In that moment the challenge was
accepted and the seed was planted.
Fast forward to 2020 when she began her No Fear Sock Knitting course on
YouTube and started to teach knitters that with explanation, understanding
and practice, anyone could knit a pair of socks and enjoy the process from
start to finish without fear.
Before sock knitting, Denise was a massage therapist and labor support
doula. She first fell in love with fiber at the age of eight when a friend taught
her to crochet, which lead to weekly trips to Woolworth to explore the yarn
aisle. Yes, she is that old! Today, she lives in Westchester, NY with her
husband and two children who step over weekly yarn deliveries left at the
front door.
She loves audiobooks, tea and quiet time with family and friends, all while
sock knitting of course. Denise’s passion to share her love of sock knitting
is seen in every page of her book and her goal is to spread that passion
and sense of fearlessness to as many knitters as possible.
