April 4, 2023 Romi Hill: How do you knit that Continental Style?

Program Description: Even if you are a hardcore English-style knitter, knowing how to switch off to Continental style can be a fantastic break for your hands. Beyond that, it can make Brioche stitch and ribbing faster, and it’s a great technique to add to your tool kit, whether you decide to stick with it or not. Join me, Romi Hill, in taking an in-depth look at holding the yarn in your left hand: how it differs from crochet, how to purl (Norwegian? Lever? Combined?), how to tension yarn, and how to work stranded colorwork with two (or more!) yarns in your left hand.
Homework: none

About Romi Hill

Website: https://designsbyromi.com/

Rosemary (Romi) Hill is a lifelong knitter, crafter, maker, and seeker of beauty. After falling in love with lace knitting, Romi founded Designs by Romi in 2005 as an e-Commerce based shawl pin shop. From there, she went on to design lace shawls and garments, having patterns appear in Interweave Knits, Knitscene, Vogue Knitting, Twist Collective, Making, PomPom, Amirisu, and numerous other books and magazines. Her second Interweave Press book, New Lace Knitting, features timeless patterns for garments and accessories. Along the way, Romi’s library of self published patterns has grown to over 140. Her designs are known for their organic flow and her patterns are known for clarity and attention to detail. She’s become a sought-after teacher, appearing at retreats and festivals.

Born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area, Romi (pronounced roe-me) lives on the eastern slope of the Sierra Nevada mountains in Northern Nevada, where the high desert nights are cool and the air is clear and crisp. She loves spicy food, cool breezes, and cowboy boots.
